Dorky is identifying the potentials in the way lecture notes are created and shared. Today each student in most of the cases is on his own in the learning process. Taking notes at lectures alone, “hunting” down notes from others, photocopying, rewriting, reprinting them, each year students put huge effort into their supporting materials only to use them then throw them away.
The lecturer at best can contribute to this by supplying his lecture slides on university servers. Apart from the problems of internal access limitations there is no way for this information to be accessed from outside the university walls such as in case of students of third world countries.
Project code name “Dorky” is here to change that!
What if you could have a revolutionary way to take notes using your laptop or mobile devices, a better interface for note-making with the student in mind? An aggregation system to filter and pick the best bits for you from a cloud of collaboratively created academic knowledge, granting open access to learning created by students in leading universities of the world with the involvement of the lecturer in a unifying process?
Dorky is amining to achieve this while having a self-sustaining business model at heart.
The project is under development and construction by Barbara Somlai [initial concept,UX, Art], me [strategy,UX, frontend development], Alfredo Aguirre [technical development, backend developmnet] and Omry Nachman [frontend development].
